Lamina
Lamina is made up of thirty nine interconnecting wooden segments threaded onto a sterling silver box chain, with a wood detail and lobster clasp at the back. It comes in a standard wood option, or wood with silver inlay. The segments replicate the vertabrae of a spine, mimicking how they connect and move together, and the necklace moves with the wearer as they go about their day. Each section is polished to a glass like finish with natural, locally harvested beeswax, and so feels beautifully soft against your skin, and the natural wood comes with a warmth that manmade materials can't replicate.
Inspired by ramblings in the Burren near my home in county Clare, fossils and bones and plants and stones, the many wonders of the natural world.
The chain length is 45cm but if you require shorter or longer please get in touch and I can make one to your specific requirements.
The Lamina necklace will pair perfectly with my Gola stud earrings.
Each piece is made from locally sourced wood and so will be completely unique. While the size and shape will be as pictured, there is considerable variation in the colour and grain in every piece of wood. The tannins in the wood will respond to the sunlight and the natural oils on your skin, and will darken over time, eventually settling into a beautiful rich brown colour.
Every purchase comes beautifully packaged in a jewellery box, perfect for gifting, and ideal for storing your new piece whenever you are not wearing it. If you would like to include a handwritten gift note with your order just pop your message in the box at checkout and I'll do the rest.
All of my work is made to order and I allow 3-5 business days from ordering to shipping. However, if you need something in a hurry please contact me directly and I will try to facilitate you.
